Oktoberfest in Munich

It’s that time of year again!!! Yes, I am talking about Oktoberfest! Fun Fact: did you know that Oktoberfest started to honor the wedding of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig's marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen (I got it off of the internet somewhere). This festival/celebration has been adopted by many other countries and is celebrated around the world. However, I was able to scratch one thing off of my bucket list, I got to attend the big deal and official Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany.

In Houston, we have an “Oktoberfest” festival on the last Saturday on September. I know that many other cities also host a Oktoberfest festival. However, I have had the “official” Oktoberfest on my bucket list for a loooong time.

  1. Get there early if you don’t have a table reservation

  2. Take it slow- There is so much to eat and even more to drink. Take it slow, you don’t want to be the weirdo that is done and trashed by noon. The party goes all day AND night!

  3. Check the weather- Make sure to check the weather. I made the mistake of not checking and ended up wearing long sleeves and boots. During the morning, the weather was cool but through out the day it became hot. You don’t want to be carrying around coats along with your 1 liter beer.

  4. Avoid driving- There’s tons of drinking involved, don’t do in a foreign county.

  5. Make a plan
