A BELIZEAN summer! #CayeCaulker
I will never forget any trip I take. I love to experience culture, scenery and the people from other places. I was lucky enough to spend a week in a small island off of Belize, Caye Caulker. The kindness I experienced was unbelievable. Everyone was eager to learn as much us as we wanted to learn about them. Besides realizing Belize has some of the nicest people around, I also realized they also had some of the best lobster. Lobster was in season when I visited the Island, Caye Caulker.
This sunset was unbelievable! My friends and I got to see this unset everyday during our week at Caye Caulker. This area is located at an area called "The Split", which I definitely recommend.
At the split there is a bar called The Lazy Lizard. I recommend this place not necessarily because of the cheap drinks, but because the view is amazing. This is where we would watch the sunset and were we are able to meet people from.
There are so many different activities to do around this country. I got to go snorkeling, visit the ruins, snorkel in the Blue Hole (scratched off my bucket list) and I got to do paddle boarding. Paddle boarding is a popular activity to do in the Caye Caulker because it does not require you to travel anywhere else. I also enjoyed this activity because it was very inexpensive and it was a good workout.
The Blue Hole
My bucket list is endless, and by visiting Belize I was able to scratch one goal. I got to snorkel in the Blue Hole!!! I have always like the ocean, and since I was a kid I knew about the Blue Hole. Going snorkeling in this beautiful area was amazing, however I do plan on returning to scuba dive. The Blue Hole was a great experience, however the boat trip from Caye Caulker was not my favorite. The boat ride from Caye Caulker to the Blue Hole was 3 hours which were horrible. While in route, I became nauseous and light headed. I couldn't believe motion sickness got the best of me during this boat ride. However, I knew I had to get it together in order to experience snorkeling.
LAMANAI Mayan site
We also got the chance to visit Lamanai, a Mesoamerican archaeological site, located in the northern part of Belize. We had to take a taxi boat from Caye Caulker and then a taxi ride which took us to the river boat that would be taking us Lamanai. This was one of my favorite tours because we got the chance to take a river through the jungle. I felt like I was in a scene out of Jumanji during out boat ride. I heard and saw so many different animals that I was waiting for everything to come out at me. This was definitely one of my favorite tours. During out visit to Lamanai rain poured on us which was great because it was extremely hot. The rain cooled us off and made us enjoy the rest of our tour.
Belize was such an adventure!! I still dream about sitting by the beach and listening to the waves crash into the sand. I remember all the great local people that I met (we became great friends with the man who sold the breakfast tacos). Belize is an amazing country and I truly believe it should be visited by everyone.
